Jacob Babb- Jacob graduated from Hope College in the spring of 2020 where he studied Physical and Health Education. He currently teaches Middle School PE/Health at East Grand Rapids Public Schools and LOVES IT. He played football at Hope, so he is a huge fan of anything that has to do with athletics. His favorite activities include playing sports, dancing with KR1 and playing sports with KR3. Going to the beach in the summer is one of his favorite childhood memories. This will be his fifth summer with Kids Rock, 4 at Zeeland and this will be the first at Legacy. He is so excited for it to begin!
Emma Gontjes- Emma is a recent graduate from Calvin University with a double major in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education and a minor in Mathematics. She enjoys spending time outside, hanging out with family and friends, babysitting, dancing, and traveling. Emma is super excited to spend another summer working at Kids Rock Summer Camp! She is eager to share her love and passion for Christ with the kids this summer!
Sara Nealy-Sara is a junior at Calvin university studying sociology with a minor in business. She participates with the Calvin women’s basketball team. She loves playing basketball among many other sports. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family and friends, and loves being around kids. She is very excited as this will be her first year at camp, and can’t wait to spread the love of God while doing the things she loves!
Katie Schwerin - Katie originally grew up on the east side of Michigan but moved to the west side to attend GVSU. Katie recently graduated with a Bachelors in English and ESL / Spanish Education! Katie has been a Young Life leader at GVSU for the last 4 years and has spent her time volunteering at summer camps across the United States. While also being a student athlete for most of her life, she thoroughly enjoys staying active and being outdoors through hiking, swimming, running, biking, and kayaking. She developed her love for teaching through tutoring and volunteering that has driven her to pursue a career working with kids by providing a fun, positive, enriching environment for them! She is very excited to be a counselor this summer at Kids Rock Summer Camp.
Kennedy Geiger- Kennedy is SO excited to be back at camp for another summer, and cannot wait to hangout with the campers! She is a recent graduate from Calvin University with majors in Elementary and Special Education. In her free time she enjoys going to the beach, running, biking, and eating lots of ice cream! Kennedy is excited for a summer filled with lots of Jesus and joy!!
Maegan Sneller- Maegan is a 2021 graduate of Cornerstone and is currently a 6th grade teacher at Excel Charter Academy in Kentwood. Some of her favorite summertime activities include: wakeboarding, camping, running, and hiking. This is her third summer at Kid's Rock and she's so excited!
Hannah Syme- Hannah is pumped for her first summer with Kids Rock Summer Camp! She attends Alma College and is studying elementary education and integrated sciences. At Alma, Hannah is a captain on the basketball team as well as a leader in the ASAP mentoring program. She also enjoys working with the sports information crew and teaching water aerobics. Hannah loves to be active and enjoys arts and craft activities. She is so excited to see what this summer has in store!
Carley Van Swol- Carley is a recent graduate from Hope College with Physical Education and Spanish majors and a minor in Health. At Hope, Carley participated in intramural sports, broadcasted sporting events, as well as being a leader with the Special Ed ministry at a local church. Last year she lived in Sevilla Spain for a semester and got the chance to see different parts of the world. She has a big heart for kids, sports, traveling, and Jesus. This is her fourth summer at camp, and she’s so excited to build relationships with the kids and have fun!
Jaymes Gontjes- Jaymes attended Dutton Christian Schools, South Christian High School, and graduated from Calvin College in 2018. He just completed his second year of teaching Social Studies at Cityside Middle School in Zeeland, MI. He enjoys coaching football and track, and playing guitar and drums in his spare time. He is excited for another awesome year at camp to continue building relationships with campers, encouraging people to know Jesus, and having a blast all summer long!
Justin Wolters- Justin is a sophomore at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois. He is an Elementary Education major with a double minor in Philosophy and Theology. He loves spending his free time with friends and family and exploring the outdoors. He is so incredibly excited to play games and learn about God this summer!
Thomas Timmerman Thomas Timmerman graduated from Belmont University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Music and has since returned to school to study Spanish Secondary Education and Applied Linguistics at Grand Valley State University. In his free time he enjoys camping, long distance running, and reading. This will be his third summer working as a counselor at Kids Rock Summer Camp, and he is excited for the fun to begin!
Britta DeLong Britta is very excited to join Kids Rock Summer Camp this year. She will be graduating from Calvin University in December with a major in Elementary Education and minors in Integrated Science and Mathematics. During the school year, Britta is a tutor for elementary and middle school students. But when she’s not working, she loves to hike, travel, do water sports, babysit, and camp. Britta is very excited to meet the campers and to share all about God’s love for them!
Jessica Bongiorno- My name is Jessica! I just graduated from Calvin this spring and I am going to be starting my first year teaching in a Nature Based Preschool classroom at Hudsonville Christian. Some of my hobbies are being outside, playing sports, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. I am excited to teach kids about Jesus and have lots of fun this summer!
Gabby Timmer- Gabby attended Dutton Christian School Elementary and is a graduate of South Christian High School in 2018, and now is in her senior year at Calvin University. She is majoring in Physical Education K-12 and is hoping to be a PE teacher one day. She is also a member of Calvin Women's Basketball team. Gabby enjoys spending her free time playing basketball, hanging out with friends and family, and being outside enjoying the sunshine! She is super excited for her first summer at Kid's Rock Camp and can't wait to spend the summer sharing her love and passion for Christ!
