What is leaders in Training?

Leaders in training is an optional afternoon programming choice for 7th and 8th graders in Kids Rock III.  Instead of participating with Kids Rock III in the afternoon sport and theme activity, campers who opt to be leaders in training will spend time in one or more of the following ways:
-Assisting with the Kids Rock I camp.
-Reading books to Kids Rock I
-Receiving training on how to be leader at camp, school, and the world beyond
-Team-building exercises
-Small group Bible study
-Planning small events and activities for Kids Rock I
-Service projects in the community
-Assisting counselors with the set-up and running of camp activities

What is the purpose of the leaders in training program?

The leaders in training program was created to allow 7th and 8th graders an opportunity to participate in the fun of camp on a daily basis, while also being able to take on some responsibility and learn how to be a leader for a short portion of the day.  This program will prepare campers who aspire to be camp leaders, or maybe even camp counselors some day.  

Is my son/daughter a good fit for this program?

Campers who would like to participate in the leaders in training option, should be campers who show interest and aptitude in the following areas:
-Building positive relationships with younger campers
-Serving others and the community around them
-Leadership
-Collaborating with peers in project-based settings
-Positive role-model behavior

When/How do I sign-up for the Leaders in Training program?

The sign-up for Leaders in training programming option will be posted online along with the online elective class sign-up by June 1st.  An email will be sent to parents alerting them as to when the online elective sign-ups will be available.
